Neurodivergent-Affirming
Autism/ADHD
Neurodivergent-affirming counselling can be beneficial for folks who have a suspected, recent, or late diagnosis of Autism/ADHD.
For my neurodivergent clients, it can involve exploring identity, figuring out what accommodations work for them, learning how to meet their needs, and navigating:
Alexithymia
Masking & Burnout
Internalized Ableism
Hypersensitivity & Hyposensitivity
RSD (Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria)
PDA (Persistent Desire for Autonomy)
It is important for me that I use tools designed by neurodivergent people for my neurodivergent clients; these include DBT skills, modified for neurodivergent individuals, as well as the Values Based Integration Process, specifically for unmasking.
I also work with parents/partners of neurodivergent folks who are seeking support for themselves.
